- Foundation (2002): The hospital was established in late 2002 under the patronage of Mani Mandir Sewa Nyas Samiti, with critical support from Sightsavers International, UK.
- Founder: The institution was initiated through the efforts of Late Mrs. Chandramani Devi Rajgarhia, who founded the Mani Mandir Sewa Nyas Samiti in 1993 with a mission to serve the poor and destitute.
- Growth: AEH began as a modest 16-bed clinic with a staff of only 10 individuals, including one ophthalmologist. Over 23 years, it has expanded into a comprehensive 100-bed hospital with over 150 staff members and a dedicated team of 10 surgeons.

The hospital operates specialized clinics equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical technology (including Phaco machines and Vitrectomy systems). Their primary services include:
- Specialty Procedures: Cataract (Phaco & SICS), Glaucoma, Vitreo-retinal surgeries, Squint, Cornea, and Oculoplasty.
- Community Outreach: A core part of their operations involves "reaching the unreached" through community outreach programs and support services for remote areas.
- Education: The hospital also manages an Institute of Optometry to train the next generation of eye care professionals.
